Join my Lunch and Learn on the missed potential for learning with ChatGPT

Two months ago I gave a TEDx Talk about AI’s potential impact on learning. Though you still can’t watch it, I’m happy to share the good reason why straight from the TEDx Team:
This talk has been identified as one we’d like to share with our subscribers on YouTube, as it represents a valuable and timely idea for our global audience. We are currently developing a publishing strategy to maximize its impact on the TEDx channel and better reach our millions of subscribers.
This means that our media team chooses a specific date on which to release the talk as an “Editor’s pick,” which typically results in deferred publication.
Though I may not know how many people will actually watch it, it means a lot that a subject so important to me resonated deeply enough to warrant this reaction!
While I wait for the talk to drop, I’ve put the energy of anticipation into making my first ever 20 minute video essay. It’s a deeper dive into the subject of AI interfaces and human learning, and will hopefully serve as a follow-up to the TEDx Talk.
Rather than upload this new video essay into the YouTube void, I want to try something new and more collaborative, where conversation is part of the launch.
It’s my way of trying to scratch the itch of a question that’s been bugging me ever since ChatGPT 3.5 came out years ago. Why don’t we make technologies that provide students with more depth rather than easy As?
I’m inviting you to join me for a Lunch and Learn this Wednesday, August 27, at 12pm EST for a YouTube premiere. This feature includes a live chat where I will be hanging out to respond to any questions, collect feedback, and collectively expand on ideas about learning.
If you’re interested in education, psychology, and user experience design, your input could really help! All you need to do is grab your lunch, open YouTube, and drop your thoughts into the chat!
Add it to your calendars and join me here: https://youtu.be/QDCk3UWzg0U
See you on Aug 27!
